Spread wet food, yoghurt, quark or peanut butter across the silicone surface. Your dog has to lick it out instead of gulping it down — that slows the meal down and keeps him busy. Licking also calms, which makes the mat useful whenever you need a quiet moment: clipping nails, brushing, before time alone, or in the waiting room at the vet.
Three textures on one surface
- Honeycomb — the deepest chambers, hold thicker food the longest
- Fine nubs — for runnier textures such as yoghurt
- Oval grooves — the easiest surface, good for getting started
To stretch the session further, spread the mat and put it in the freezer for an hour first.
Suction cups on the back keep the mat in place on smooth floors so it does not travel across the room while your dog licks — and on the side of the bath or the shower wall when bath time needs a distraction.
